A
dwelling that will change the American dream
In the beginning, portable architecture
was born of necessity—pre-fabricated and mobile homes
were cheap to buy and simple to construct. But today, in an
era of digital design, when shipping containers are turned
into homes and habitats arrive via delivery truck, modular
housing is stuck in a rut. The Flower House represents a new
state of mind and an experimental way of living.
Taking a playful approach to the idea of the summer home,
the Flower House is the new quintessence of transportable
architecture. Enhancing the perception of space inside and
out, this structure is about learning to love temporary living
outside of the common box. Like art, architecture has the
ability to change both our culture and our social conditions
over time. The Flower House attempts, refreshingly, to remind
the designer how to play, to maintain the innocence of childhood,
and to leave room for spontaneity.
